Studies on the Diffusion Effect upon Ionic Distribution
نویسنده
چکیده
The aim of this paper is to present confirmation of the theory of the diffusion effect. By diffusion effect is understood a redistribution of the ions in a system where a continuous diffusion of one electrolyte is going on, which results in a steady state showing accumulation and impoverishment of certain ions. Some typical experiments are recorded and discussed. The results are found in satisfactory agreement with the theory: this can be demonstrated in several ways. The importance of considering activity changes is pointed out. Water migration and the diffusion membrane probably have no appreciable influence upon the diffusion effect under the conditions of these experiments. The diffusion effect may have biological analogies.

STUDIES ON THE DIFFUSION EFFECT UPON IONIC DISTRIBUTION II. EXPEI~TMa~.NTS ON IONIC ACCUMULATION BY
Across a permeable boundary m there was supposed to be present a constant difference in concentration of either the cation D + or the anion A-. The maintenance of this condition, accomplished, for example, by a continuous addition of the substance DA to the rather small volume (i), causes DA to act as a "diffusion agent" which steadily diffuses across m into the part (o). In (o) a fixed, consta...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation of the Effect of Gas Diffusion Layer with Semicircular Prominences on Polymer Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Performance and Species Distribution
A three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics model of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) with both gas distribution flow channels and Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) is developed. A set of conservation equation is numerically solved by developing a CFD code based on the finite volume technique and SIMPLE algorithm. In this research, some parameters like oxygen consumption, water...
متن کاملEffect of Mechanical Activation on the Kinetics of Ammoniacal Thiosulfate Leaching of a Refractory Oxide Gold Ore
The effect of mechanical activation on the kinetics of ammoniacal thiosulfate leaching of a refractory oxide gold ore containing 2.8 ppm Au was investigated. The gold extraction of 99.81% was achieved by 16 h leaching of a sample mechanically activated for 60 minutes. The gold extraction observed for a similar reference sample without mechanical activation was only 55%. Studies revealed that le...

The determination of formation constants of binary inner transition metal complexes where M=Y(III) or La(III) or Ce(III) or Pr(III) or Nd(III) or Sm (III) or Gd (III) or Dy (III) or Th(IV) andL = Creatinine have been carried out using Irving–Rossotti titration technique in aqueous mediaat different temperatures and at ionic strength. To understand more about the nature ofequilibrium involving i...

Interprotein electron transfer plays an important role in biological energy conversion. In this work, the electron transfer reaction between cytochrome c(2) (cyt) and the reaction center (RC) was studied to determine the mechanisms coupling association and electron transfer. Previous studies have shown that mutation of hydrophobic residues in the reaction interface, particularly Tyr L162, chang...
